Date and Program Notes
Televised as a Rockpalast Special; The correct date for the Van Morrison show is Sunday April 4. The Rockpalast Night where this show was taken from started on April 3 around 11:00 pm with Rick James. Van played the second set and this was around 1:00 am on April 4. Therefore date of the actual show started on April 3 (in the late evening) and ended on April 4 (in the early morning). The broadcast date was the following evening April 4. Most of the Rockpalast shows are broadcast the date following the actual show. Hence the show was played over the 3rd and 4th of April 1982. It was broadcast live across Europe on April 4, 1982 that evening. This is why this show sometimes circulates as April 3 , 1982

Rolf Wolf’s Remaster Notes
My friend Manfred startet in the end of the last year to transfer some of his old analog rockpalast recordings on harddisc. He used for the transfer a professional Studer 807, Nakamichi HiCom II and a Terratec EWX 24/96 soundcard for A/D converting in very high 24bit quality. He burnded this ( very big ) 24bit WAV on a DVD-R and send it to me. So we had made all digital steps in 24bit and dithering only one time in 16bit.
My part was a ( small ) sound optimizing, fade ins/outs, to fixed trackmarker and dithering in 16bit/44.1KHz. Software of cource the good old WavLab and for dithering the Apogee UV22HR PlugIn.

This Van Morrison show were recorded from FM with a revox reel and a Revox tuner in April 1982. The sound quality is very good. This show is one of my favorite VM shows. Especially “summertime in england” is in my opinion the best version, I’ve ever hearded.
I had this show a few years ago remastered, but Manfred has now a much better anaglog equipment and so we have to try to make a better sound quality in 24bit.

PLEASE NOTE
This was recorded and remastered in the orignal 24 bit wav. When all was done it was at the end of the process (last step) that it was dithered to 16 bit and compressed to shn. so this will burn to cd with no problems if you want to.

ALSO NOTE
These SHN files do not have all the loud pops on track 15 between the 1:00 minute thru 2:00 minute mark. They are present on all other Bootlegs

This show is also known to circulate in other Bootleg versions such as
“Live In Essen” by Golden Stars (GSCD-1105, released 1990) and
“Can You Feel The Silence” by Great Dane (GDR 8919)

Here’s a fantastic and complete show from the “Silver Eagle Concert Series”.

After Jessi Colter opens the show Waylon hits the stage for a fantastic performance recorded on his birthday and it just dawned on me my wedding anniversary is on Waylon’s birthday, something just seems right about that though I’m not sure Mrs. Mjk5510 would agree seeing how much music is in the loft and bedroom and living room, kitchen, dining room, kid’s rooms…well I know I’m preaching to the choir here.

This is easily one of the best performances and best quality shows I’ve come across.

Turn this one up LOUD ! Outlaw.Rebel.Legend.

Recorded around the same time as the excellent “Waylon Live” and the outlaw country masterpiece “The Ramblin’ Man” this is prime Waylon around the time outlaw country music was starting to find its way but before it was to explode into the mainstream with “Wanted! The Outlaws” released in 1976, becoming the first platinum country record.

A regional broadcast of a mini festival on KAMC radio. The DJ’s unintentionally interrupt the broadcast at one point carrying on a conversation as if they have no clue they are on the air. It’s unfortunate as it interrupts the show but it is somewhat humorous. I’m not sure what they were thinking except they seem to be pretty proud to be broadcasting live while carrying on a fairly amateurish production including interviewing a couple of audience members who’s burning question is “who’s played so far”.

This show has been circulating as 1974 and never given a specific date. Research has pointed to it being in the Fall of ’74, Waylon played the Western Palace in Dallas on September 25th which is documented on “Waylon Live”. Looking at the song selection which includes “Amanda” from “The Ramblin’ Man” released in September of 1974 as well as a lot of the same songs featured on “Waylon Live” it would stand to reason this is part of the same series of shows. In addition, High School Homecomings generally takes place during football season in the Fall. Though no specific date has surfaced, none of this has ever been officially released.

If only it contained Waylon’s knockout version of “Midnight Rider” from “The Ramblin’ Man” but that will have to wait for a future upload.

Got this one in a trade a few years ago. Willie was promoting his CD Spirit and stopped in to play the whole CD live in the studio for this college station. He and the DJ talk about most of the songs that are played. It’s quite interesting to hear Willie explain the tracks. This is an FM recording which sounds very nice.
